Improving the Stability & Surface Effect of Powder Coating
Presenter: Mouhcine Kanouni, Clariant Plastics & Coatings
A key trend for today's powder coating producer is the need to simplify formulations while maintaining performance. By simplifying the PC formulations, each component is used to its complete potential leading to potential cost saving and reduced complexity in the manufacturing. Clariant Business Unit Additives has developed unique solutions that enable PC formulators to achieve their targets. For Performance Additives, a new additive package can now be used as a light stabilizer additive while also offering static charge enhancing effect, reduction in yellowing during baking and overbaking conditions, and prevention in gas fading discoloration. From Advanced Surface Solutions, new micronized wax texturing agents offer improved mar resistance, good matting effect and anti-fingerprint while meeting the upcoming PFOA regulations. In addition, Clariant's PTFE-free innovation for textured powder opens up the possibility for coatings producers to create textured protective coatings without conventional PTFE content materials, which also improve the coverage of sharp edges for better corrosion protection.
