Description

This webinar will discuss how carbon reduction/capture efforts to reduce CO2 will impact our industry. This will review the key points driving our industry and will address:

Challenge - Large corporations are already setting directives for carbon reduction in the manufacturing process. This is happening at an accelerating rate. The Security & Exchanges Commission is releasing standards for public companies to report the carbon reduction plans and progress. Smaller companies are now also including carbon footprint into their strategies.

The power generation/energy utilities are heavily investing in exploring possible methods to reduce CO2 emissions. Carbon capture and combusting hydrogen fuel are the ones gaining the most attention. The steel manufacturing industry is also very active in researching this issue as they are one of the greatest consumer of power in heavy industry. As well the possible Class 1, II, and III analysis could also affect how everyone measures results.

Effect on Powder Coatings - For our industry, the likely the biggest direct generator of CO2 from operating our powder coating lines is from washer heating and ovens. Gas convection oven technology is the current industry oven standard, but it may be severely impacted if burning natural gas becomes a targeted process. Powder coating manufacturers are also making strides to reduce the footprint of your powder but how do you reduce the impact on your company’s plant floor? Can you convert to electric power or infrared? We all know this issues is gaining in momentum, do you have a strategy yet?

Takeaway - This educational presentation will be to help you begin the conversation in your company possible trends that might affect powder coating and some specific steps you can take to affect your emissions of CO2 now and in the future.
